Diarrheais the most common cause of diaper rash. With diarrhea, the stool is liquidy and irritates babies bottom.
Not changing babies diaper frequently causes urine and solid waste to be in contact with babies skin, leading to irritation.
Friction– Sometimes a mobile baby will have rubbing where friction is created with the diaper. (Redness will not be in the folds, but where friction occurs).
Yeast infection– Both male and female babies can have yeast infections. This is a main factor in severe diaper rash. Yeast infections are often noticeable by the strong order when changing babies diaper.
Susceptibility - Some babies are simply more prone to rash than others are.
Teething - during teething, babies systems are going through some big changes, this can lead to rashes.
If a Rash develops - make sure that you change your baby frequently. This may mean a mid-night change for a baby sleeping through the night. Wash the affected area carefully, with cloth wipes and a mild wipe solution. Do not rub the area, it is tender and rubbing can irritate it more. When possible, allow some air time so that babies bottom can be exposed to the air to dry naturally.
